You guys. When Nadine first contacted me about having a cake smash to celebrate turning 35, I thought she might be trolling me. I thought, I LOVE the idea of doing a cake smash for a grown-up, but no way I'm really being asked to shoot that, no way someone else is on the same page with me about how cool that is. But she was legit, and I'm so glad!
We planned out her theme as pink, white, and gold, and I took it from there, planning the perfect backdrop, tissue poofs, and balloons for her set. She brought her cute gold tutu outfit and her coordinating cake, and we were all set for this cake smash for adults!
Of course we added the element of champagne to celebrate this beauty's birthday, because why not? Nadine also brought this great crown in which added the perfect princess touch.
The great part about doing a cake smash for an adult (besides the champagne) is that I could direct my subject for once! We covered the gamut of the expressions I'll often get from babies during their cake smashes: the wonder at this delicious, sugary substance, the excitement of devouring this cake this is all theirs, the concern over getting covered in frosting, and then finally being all done with the cake and just wanting to get cleaned up again.
